Karl Lagerfeld & CHANEL

On 3rd Dec 2012 we were honoured to have been chosen by famous fashion house CHANEL to host their exclusive pre-show party in the WHISKI Bar & Restaurant. The event was strictly confidential and hosted all the main people involved in the Metier d’Art CHANEL show to be held in Linlithgow the next day.  Around 70 people attended including Karl Lagerfeld and his designers and models.

They feasted on our Scottish Tapas menu, enjoyed some great whiskies and listened to a fabulous Scottish band – all in all, they had a fantastic Scottish evening at Whiski – something we do particularly well at here !  The show was by all means fabulous the next day and has truly put Scotland on the map in fashion terms.

A Boards Banned from Royal Mile

So the Council finally did it – banned completely A boards from the Royal Mile (and Rose Street, I believe) !

OK – to some extent I can understand why they have done this – many retailers cluttering up the pavements wih massive A boards and chalkboards all over the place meaning that people have to zig zag around them and these cause an obvious hazard for pedestrains

HOWEVER

what I do object to is that the council has also banned A Boards from the tables and chairs areas that businesses RENT from the council aswell (for vast sums of money I may add). This seems very unfair as these areas have cost alot of money to local businesses and surely if we are not cluttering up the pavements we should have some scope for what we put there!

In effect, removing A boards put on the pavements by businesses who had not PAID for that part of the pavement is one thing – penalising businesses that PAY handsomely for a part of the pavement also is a step too far and I think shows a lack of understanding of the problem – if we rent a part of the pavement and have an A board in that designated part that we PAY for then there surely there never will be any obstruction of the pavement.

Bye bye,  our beautiful cutom made A Boards – we miss you !

A Huge Giant Walking Outside WHISKI Bar

Well, a New Man Walking – and a BLUE giant at that. See video here. Its was a spectacular sight and he walked right past the WHISKI bar on New Years Day 2010.

Edinburgh – NEW YEARS DAY 2009

What a city Edinburgh is – really fantastic ! There was a new event this year called FEET FIRST and it was up the Royal Mile between the TRON and PARLIAMENT SQUARE not far from the WHISKI Bar – what can I say ? It was simply fantastic. quirky, weird. dazzling… call it what you wish but it was a blast. From gigantic hanging boxes in the air with acrobats coming out of them and perfoming to monsters hanging out of windows and full on trumpet bands dancing down the Royal Mile (with us dancing down behind them – hey hey… ) – it had it all and more.

Anyone who visits Edinburgh can not fail to have a good time as there is just so much going on at this time of year and the New years Day Feet First just adds to experience, keep up the good work Edinburgh
